Adbusters: Apocalypse Soon

2007
Abusters Media Foundation
Vancouver

Barnbrook worked as art directors  for this issue of Adbusters. It coincided with the large-scale attack that Israel mounted on Palestine, which became the focus of the introductory pages & cover including an open letter to George Bush and a poem by a Palestinian Member of Parliament.

This issue’s diverse texts look at the idea of food appreciation as a leisure activity and substitute for sex, a story about losing at Monopoly as a metaphor for capitalism, a piece that reflects on how huge buildings are built by star architects around the world (the design turns each building into a huge penis) and our collective attitudes to old age.

The magazine was divided into separate sections each using a word ending in ‘o’ – Eco, Psycho, Techno, Corpo, Politico, Anarcho and Pomo.
