Several months following the release of The Next Day, a special edition version was made available. The design enlarges the white square to fill the whole of the cover leaving the sides of the CD with the remainder of what is left of the original image. The package consists of a number of white squares, each with a different title and function: Tracks is the original album; Frame is a series of unseen stills; Light is a DVD of videos; Extra is the CD of extra tracks; Language is the lyrics; You is a blank booklet. The design ‘time stretches’ the original image . The white square has been changed to a 3D cube to represent the package.
