BBC Radio Scotland

This multi-award winning series of adverts were commissioned by Faulds advertising to advertise the spoken word BBC radio station Radio Scotland. Barnbrook completed 3 of the 6 animations.

Barnbrook were given real soundbites and simply asked to animate something along to them. The first animation was generated by drawing and lettering directly on found footage. This was also mixed with footage we had filmed. The conversation is between two men discussing the Scottish dialect phrase Foggie bummer.

The second animation was created in a basic online edit. A rough storyboard was agreed and then it was created spontaneously using laserprints grabbed using a video camera. The audio track is a man talking about why his spirit is lifted when he goes to look at the sea. We tried to express the spiritually of the words being spoken by the use of graceful animation of custom lettering.
