Mariko Mori’s ‘The Soul Never Dies’ emerged from our collaboration with Juxta Press, a Milan-based art publishing house. It belongs to their ‘Afterlife’ series, which asks artists to consider their own perceptions of mortality.

In ‘The Soul Never Dies’ the artist shares her concept of the Great Light, an all-encompassing white purity that came to her in a dream. The cloth-bound book and accompanying clamshell box are blind-embossed and debossed with the artist’s drawings and text describing her vision; the book cover uses Takeo Pachica, which becomes translucent when debossed. Inside, reproductions of Mariko’s drawings are separated by ethereal, translucent inserts, which are french-folded and printed with silver ink.
